The long-awaited scholarly "Masterwork Library Edition" of the "Beethoven Sonatas, Volume 1", has finally been completed. Since the original autographs of the eight sonatas in this volume do not exist, this edition is based on the first editions of the works, published by various Viennese engravers in the 1790's.
